ANTIGUA: Ayesha Zafar scored 40 runs to help Pakistan women ‘A’ to beat West Indies women ‘A’ by seven wickets in the T20I series opener.
Set to chase a paltry 97 runs in 20 overs, Pakistan’s opening pair Umaima Sohail and Ayesha Zafar provided a steady start of 40 runs. Umaima fell in eighth over but Ayesha carried on with patience amid heavy wind blowing. The right-handed batsman struck four boundaries in her 45-balls 40 runs.
Umaima scored 21 off 23 balls with the help of two boundaries. Nahida made 12 off 16 accounting just a boundary.
Steffie Soogrim, Kaysia Bruce and Many Mangru bagged a wicket each.
Earlier, West Indies managed to score just 96 runs for the loss of eight wickets. Rashada Williams was the highest run-scorer from the hosts with 33 runs off 39 balls including just two boundaries.
Shakibi Gajnabi made 20 whilst Reniece Boyce scored 15 with the help of three boundaries.
For Pakistan, Aimen Anwar and Rameen Shamim bagged two wickets each while Sadia Iqbal, Maham Tariq, and Kainat Imtiaz shared a wicket apiece.
