SAvENG: 1st ODI cancelled again after positive COVID-19 tests

Paarl: The first ODI between South Africa and England has once again been canceled at a short notice after two staff members in a bio-secure environment tested positive for COVID-19.

The three-match series was due to start in Cape Town on Friday but was postponed after a South Africa player tested positive for COVID-19.

Earlier, it was announced that Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have agreed to delay the start time of today’s ODI as England were awaiting results after being re-tested on Saturday evening but now it is confirmed that the game has been altogether canceled.

According to Reuters, the ODI series is now reduced to two-matches that are scheduled to be played at Newlands on Monday and Wednesday.

Note, England whitewashed South Africa in the three-match T20I series earlier this week.
