NRL in COVID crisis talks over Broncos 'bubble'

The Daily Telegraph has reported that the NRL will hire a private charter flight for Broncos players to take them to Melbourne for next week's clash against the Storm.

Brisbane are set to go head-to-head with Canterbury at 5.30pm, in a match which will see one of them claim their first win of the year.

With a couple of locally-acquired cases popping up in Brisbane in the past two days, the governing body is taking extra steps to ensure that the game will go on.

Broncos players have been instructed to only leave for their homes when absolutely necessary, while Bulldogs players have been told not to leave their hotel.

Both teams' sheds will be off-limits to everyone bar the playing group and other essential staff members.

But it's Brisbane's clash against the Storm next week that has thrown a bigger spanner in the works.

It is understood the league will charter a flight to ferry the Broncos in and out of Melbourne with minimal interaction and maintain some sense of a bubble.

The Broncos are expected to land on Tuesday and undergo testing protocols in time for their match on Friday night.
