NBP, WAPDA to lock horns in National Hockey Championship’s final

Lahore: Defending Champions National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) beat Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) by the scores of 6-5 in Penalty Shoot-Outs to qualify for the 66th National Hockey Championship’s final. 

In a thrilling first semi-final of the tournament, both teams held the match drew by 2-2 followed by a draw Penalty Shoot-Outs. The results were decided on sudden death stroke which was scored by NBP.

Abu Bakar and Arsalan Qadir struck a goal each for NBP while Mubashir Ali and Ali Shan netted a goal each for SSGC.

On the other hand, Pakistan WAPDA defeated Pakistan Navy by 1-0 in the second knock-out game. Umar Bhutta was the lone goal scorer.

The final contest of the event is scheduled to be played here tomorrow at 2:30 pm at MPCL Hockey Stadium. The winning team will get PKR 3 lacs while runners-up will receive prize purse of PKR 2 lacs. The third place team will get PKR 1 lacs. PKR 50,000 will be given to the Best Player of the tournament.
