Reigning premiers Richmond have been given a huge boost ahead of their season opener, announcing an extension to coach Damien Hardwick's contract until the end of 2024.
The 48-year-old joined the Tigers in 2010, and has led them to three premierships in the past four seasons.
It will extend Hardwick's time with the club to 15 seasons as a leader, further increasing his position as the longest-tenured coach in Richmond's history.
He endured a tumultuous start to his time in Tigerland, finishing second-last in his debut season and 12th in the two after that. After finally breaking into the finals in 2013, the club was left treading water for a few years before breaking into the top four in 2017. They've stayed there ever since.
It was that year when they claimed their first premiership since 1980, before a preliminary final loss in 2018 was avenged by two more cups in the last two years.
More to come
