Karachi: Badar Abidi and Babar Khan single-handedly drove ARY News to nine wickets victory against Geo News in SJAS T20 Cup’s Semi-final here at Anu Bhai Park on Friday.
The openers held the charge strongly and smashed the opponent’s bowlers all around the park to chase 141 runs in just 9.5 overs. Badar hammered 86 runs off 30 balls with the help of five boundaries and nine towering sixes. Babar, on the other end, charged bowlers and scored 41 runs off 22 balls laced with four boundaries and two maximums.
Jaffer Hussain of Geo took the only wicket for his team.
Earlier, Zohaib Hassan scored 53 runs off 45 balls to help Geo post 140-6 in 18 overs. He alongside his opening partner Kamran Ayub (18) provided a steady 43-runs start to his team.
Jaffer was the other prominent scorer from Geo as the right-handed batsman made 37 off 34 balls. He partnered with Zohaib to score the highest inning partnership of 65 runs.
Danyal Lateef was pick off the bowlers for ARY as the right-arm leggie bagged three wickets for 22 runs. Usama Khalid and Babar shared a wicket apiece.
In a knock-out group contest, ARY News beat Such TV by 10 wickets.
