Southern Punjab 2nd XI wins Pakistan Cup

Karachi: Southern Punjab (SP) beat Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) by eight wickets in Fifth Round to win the Pakistan Cup 2nd XI Tournament on the basis of a better net run-rate. 

Mukhtar Ahmed (91) and Waqar Hussain (89*) helped SP chase down 249 runs for the loss of just two wickets in 45.4 overs. Anas Mustafa scored 39 runs with the help of five boundaries and a six.

Maaz Ahmed bagged a wicket for KPK.

While batting first, KPK posted 248-10 in 46.3 overs. Mohammad Mohsin Khan scored 65 runs off 77 balls with the help of seven boundaries. Sahibzada Farhan made 45 runs off 64 balls laced with six boundaries.

Ahsan Baig bagged three wickets while Mukhtar Ahmed and Zohaib Afridi took two wickets each for SP.

With four wins each in the tournament, there was a tough battle between Sindh and SP but SP won it on the basis of better run-rate. Sindh also won its last match, defeating Northern by 93 runs.
