Former Cronulla and Gold Coast halfback Albert Kelly could be a shock starter in the number seven jumper for the Broncos next season.
Kelly, a highly talented halfback and match-winner on his day, has spent the past six seasons in Super League with Hull KR and Hull FC.
At 29, he still has plenty to offer and has come back a far more mature player than when he left, earning a train and trial contract with the Broncos.
Halfback has been a massive problem for the Broncos over the past two seasons, with no one proving capable of leading the team around the park.
New Broncos coach Kevin Walters is renowned for thinking outside the square and will give Kelly every chance to make the spot his own – despite the fact he hasn't played in the NRL since 2014.
Kelly was troubled by hamstring problems this year at Hull FC but has had a good break and will be brought back to full fitness slowly and patiently by the Broncos.
