Gold Coast recruit David Fifita has put top eight hopes on the Titans' radar as the club looks to play finals footy for the first time since 2016.
Fifita will officially line-up for the Titans in season 2021 after electing to depart the Brisbane Broncos to sign a monster three-deal with the Gold Coast worth over $3 million back in July.
The 20-year-old will join Herman Ese'ese and Storm premiership player Tino Fa'asuamaleaui as part of a major triple coup for the club.
With the Titans finishing the 2020 season in ninth spot on the NRL ladder, Fifita said he's confident the playing group can go one better and potentially finish as high as the top four next year.
"That's the goal next year – top eight, top four," he told reporters.
"Hopefully, we'll do that next year. I know myself and the boys will train hard for the pre-season,"
"One hundred per cent, [a premiership] is my ultimate goal. One of my mates has already got one, Tino. That's the goal."
The former Broncos forward endured a tough 2020 season where he was forced to undergo operations on his knee and ankle. He was limited to just nine games for the year.
Opening up on his decision to leave the Broncos, Fifita admitted he was tempted to join a Sydney club before ultimately deciding to stay close to home and sign with the Titans.
"It was hard to leave the Broncos," he said.
"They were a young crew, too, and some guys there will be mates for life.
"I was injured during that time, so I had the time for it all to sink in. I sat down and thought about what I needed to do.
"I had personal stuff going on and it impacted me a bit because I wish I was out there playing and I wish things weren't going the way they were at the Broncos.
"It was a hard decision to make but I love the Gold Coast lifestyle and the beach.
"I had an opportunity to go to Sydney but I didn't want to go to Sydney.
"This (the Gold Coast) is only one hour away from my house in Brisbane, it's what's best for myself and my family.
"I have to look after my family and also with football, seeing how well the Titans did at the back end of the season and the boys that are coming on board, we can do something special.
