Rashid Khan becomes Afghanistan’s captain for T20Is

KABUL: Leg-spinner Rashid Khan has been appointed as Afghanistan’s captain for T20I format, the board announced on Wednesday. 

Taking to Twitter, Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) announced that Rashid will lead the Men’s team in T20I with Najibullah Zadran being appointed his deputy. ACB’s chairman Farhan Yousefzai approved the appointment on both posts.

Rashid’s first assignment as T20I captain will be the tour of Sri Lanka in July-August. He will also captain Afghanistan in this year’s T20 World Cup, scheduled in UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14.

Afghanistan is placed in Group B in the event alongside England, India, South Africa and two other teams who will qualify from the Qualifiers.
