Ayesha Zafar’s 65 helps Dynamites to seven-wicket win over Blasters

Rawalpindi: Ayesha Zafar’s brilliant innings of 65 while chasing led PCB dynamites to their first victory against PCB Blasters by seven wickets in the opening match of the National Triangular T20 Women’s Cricket Championship at Pindi Cricket Stadium.

PCB Blasters’ captain Aliya Riaz won the toss and opted to bat first. Blasters only managed to score 137/4 in 20 overs.

Jaweria Rauf was the top scorer, scoring 35 off 32 balls which included two fours and as many sixes. Senior batsman Javeria Khan played a slow pace inning of 29 in 36 balls.

The other notable batter was captain Aliya, smashing 34 off 22 balls which powered Blasters to a respectable score. Rameen Shamim, Nashra Sandhu and Kainat Imtiaz claimed a wicket each.

Dynamites started the chase aggressively courtesy of Ayesha but soon lost two wickets in quick succession. Nahida Khan (10) and Omaima Sohail (2) were removed by Hafsa Amjad and Anam Amin respectively.

However, Ayesha continued to show her dominance. In her  52-ball inning, she stroke ten fours and a six. She was removed by Maham Tariq on the score of 96.

Dynamites didn’t have to worry much as Iram Javed smacked Blasters all over the park. With the help of four sixes and one four, she remained unbeaten at 40 while Kainat chipped in with vital 11-ball 14. Ayesha was awarded player of the match.

Blasters will now face challengers tomorrow in the second match of the tournament.
