Islamabad, KPK win matches in National U-23 Football Tournament

ABBOTTABAD: Islamabad Tiger beat Shah e Punjab and KPK Eagles defeated Hazara Star on the second day of the National U-23 Football Tournament here at Kunch Football Ground. 

As many as three matches were played on the second day of the championship. Gilgit Baltistan Markhor and Balochistan Bazigar held goalless draw in the first contest.

Islamabad won a tight match by 1-0 against Punjab. After taking lead in the first half, Islamabad managed to defend a goal from opponents. Mustansir was the goal scorer from the winning team, he netted the ball in the 22nd minute.

In the third match, KPK defeated Hazara 2-1 after a nail-biting contest. The first half of the match remained goalless with both teams having attacked the goal posts.

Imam of KPK took a lead for his team in the 47th minute followed by Zubair who doubled in the 69th minute. Hazara’s Sardar Abbas came up with a score at the twilight phase of the game but the end results favoured the other side.
