Kamran Ghulam scores third consecutive century as KP cruises to 296-3

Karachi: Kamran Ghulam scored his third consecutive century in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) posted 296-3 against Southern Punjab (SP) on the opening day of Eigth Round. 

While batting first, KPK lost opener Musaddiq Ahmed earlier for naught but second opener Israrullah kept the scoreboard ticking as he scored 49 runs off 113 balls before Kamran’s show started.

The right-handed batsman remained not out for 145 runs off 249 balls with 19 boundaries and a six in his account. With yet another century, the 25-years-old batter is now the highest run-getter in this event so far with 858 runs.

Meanwhile, he partnered with Adi Amin (76*) to score 211 runs together for the fourth wicket partnership.

For SP, Aamir Yamin, Salman Ali Agha, and Zahid Mehmood bagged a wicket each.

On the other hand, Sindh bowled out Northern for 203 in the first inning of the eighth round. Azizullah, Mir Hamza, and Shahnawaz Dhani bagged three wickets each for Sindh.

Mohammad Nawaz scored 79 runs off 128 balls with the help of 10 boundaries while Jamal Anwar scored 51 runs off 72 balls laced with six boundaries and two sixes.

In reply, Sindh lost opener Omair Bin Yousuf earlier for just 18 runs. Sharjeel Khan (32*) helped Sindh close Day 1 at 40-1 with his partner Azizullah being not out for 2.

Waqas Ahmed was the wicket-taker for Northern.

Central Punjab closed Day 1 at 297-6 in Eighth Round against Balochistan. Ali Zaryab smashed 117 runs off 178 balls with the help of 18 boundaries and a six. Usman Salahuddin made 73 runs while Mohammad Saad contributed 45.

Ali Shan (28*) and Bilawal Iqbal (1*) will resume CP’s inning tomorrow.

Jalat Khan bagged three wickets while Raza-ul-Hasan took two wickets for Balochistan.
