Sanctioned Bulldogs issued with new notices

The Bulldogs have announced that the club's five players sanctioned for their visit to a Bondi pub have been issued with notices to appear before the board.

Canterbury last week copped a $50,000 fine after Dylan Napa, Brandon Wakeham, Corey Waddell, Sione Katoa and Aaron Schoupp broke the NRL's COVID-19 protocols on a night out at the Royal Hotel in Bondi.

The players involved were also hit with individual fines, with Napa, a former Queensland Maroons player, copping the biggest whack – a $5000 fine.

"The Bulldogs have today issued the following players a notice to appear before the board, in relation to alleged breaches under the players' code of conduct," a club statement read.

"These meetings will take place within the next five working days.

"The club is not in a position to comment further at this stage."

The players were unavailable to suit up for the Bulldogs in Round 16, with Canterbury going down 66-0 at the hands of Manly.

Trent Barrett was filthy at the players for leaving them short-handed, with three debutants – Falakiko Manu, Bailey Biondi-Odo and Christopher Patolo – all coming into the squad as a result.

Barrett said after the flogging that he hoped the five players felt "disappointed with themselves".

"It's not nice to do that. I would've loved to bring Bailey Biondi-Odo and Chris Patolo into a full-strength team when we are a big chance of winning the game," Barett said.

"That's one they're not going to want to remember. The whole club wasn't happy about it."
