‘If I am not a match-winner then why Arthur called me in WC 19’ Wahab

LAHORE: Discarded pacer Wahab Riaz is confident to make a comeback in the national team for the upcoming T20 World Cup, pencilled in from October 17 to November 14 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Speaking to reporters here on Wednesday, Riaz said countries around the world prefer senior players in mega-events like the World Cup.

“I believe senior players play an important role in big events like World Cup. Countries all around the world prefer their senior players for such events, let’s see what happens here this year,” he believes.

“People say that I am not a match-winner. If I am not a match-winner then why the then coach Mickey Arthur selected me for World Cup 2019,” Wahab recalled.

The 36-years-old pacer said he was disappointed for not being selected despite performing but he will keep on making his efforts. “I don’t know why I wasn’t selected despite performing. This is something you can ask from the selectors. But, I believe in hard work and I am hopeful to make a comeback soon,” Wahab shared.

To a query, Wahab said he had listened about Younis Khan-Hasan Ali matter only on the media and didn’t comment further on this controversy.
