Saqlain in favor of appointing Yousuf as Pakistan’s batting coach

Lahore: Head of international player development at the National High-Performance Centre (NHPC), Saqlain Mushtaq has backed Mohammad Yousuf as the next batting coach of the Pakistan cricket team.

According to the former mystery spinner, the current batting coach at NHPC would be the ideal candidate to replace Younis Khan, who resigned just before the England series.

“We should forget what happened in the past and move on. Yousaf was a world-class player and could be successful as batting coach as well,” he said while talking to media on Tuesday.

“We were busy at the camp so don’t know why Younis Khan resigned,” he added.

On the other hand, Saqlain talked about the ongoing camp of top white and red-ball cricketers.

“The coaches worked diligently with the white ball and red ball players and hopefully it will benefit them. We planned this camp after consultation with the team management and will continue this in the future as well,” Mushtaq concluded.
