A gruelling training session has backfired on the Broncos, with four stars injured for their upcoming clash against the Sharks.
Karmichael Hunt, Ben Te'o, Albert Kelly and Brendan Piakura were a no-feature in the Broncos' squad announced earlier today.
It has since been revealed that the quartet were all injured in the same training session in a less than ideal endorsement for the Broncos head of performance Dave Ballard who was appointed last month following the sacking of Andrew Kroll.
"Dave Ballard is the new strength and conditioning coach at the Brisbane Broncos and on Sunday a brutal training session turned bad," Nine's Ben Dobbin revealed.
"Karmichael Hunt tore his calf, Ben Te'o tore his calf and Albert Kelly tore his hamstring, and Brendan Piakura damaged his ankle.
"Three of these four players would have been in the side for Sunday when they take on the sharks.
"What the side looks like come Sunday, we'll know a bit more as lockdown continues but not great news for the Broncos. Four injured last Sunday."
The injuries have paved a path for out-of-favour half Brodie Croft to make his way back into the starting line-up, replacing Hunt.

In a stroke of fortune, Kotoni Staggs will make his long awaited return from an ACL injury and has been named at centre.
Jamayne Isaako and Corey Oates have been named on the wing and will replace Xavier Coates and Selwyn Cobbo.
