Ref's call helps Blues avoid 'big turning point'

Blues forward Isaah Yeo may count himself a tad lucky after he avoided going to the sin bin in what could've been deemed a professional foul at a crucial time early in the second half of Origin Game Two.

With the Maroons desperate to find some points while trailing 20-0, Queensland were awarded a penalty before playmaker Cameron Munster took the quick tap with Blues defenders turned the opposite way.

Munster made a break before he passed it on to fullback Valentine Holmes, who was taken quickly in a tackle after being held back by Yeo before the pass got to him.

Queensland players were pleading with referee Gerard Sutton to issue Yeo with a stint in the sin bin, but after a quick review from the bunker, the play was deemed just a penalty.

"We might have a sin bin here," rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns said during Nine's coverage.

Melbourne great Billy Slater added: "This could be a big turning point if Isaah Yeo goes to the sin bin."

He survived and the Blues weathered the storm before turning the blowtorch back on the Maroons in the closing stages.
