Brad Fittler expressed little sympathy when learning of Reece Walsh's hamstring injury in the lead-up to Origin II, saying he was surprised the Maroons hadn't injured the teenager earlier.
Walsh was officially ruled out of Queensland's Game Two line-up on the eve of the match, after pulling up injured during the Maroons' captain's run.
Fittler held a zoom press conference prior to Queensland's announcement of the Walsh injury and continued the war of words between the two camps.
"I'm surprised they haven't hurt him earlier," Fittler said when asked about Walsh's injury.
"We love the drama around Origin, that's what makes it so great."
The NSW Blues coach said his side would not be impacted by all the conjecture around who would be lining up in Walsh's absence.
"Well it won't be (a disruption) for us," he said.
"They would have a player that's been with them the entire time, so they'll be able to cover."
