THE TALKING POINTS
Teen prodigy hauled into Origin cauldron
He's played just seven NRL games, but 18-year-old Warriors fullback Reece Walsh has been called up for his Maroons debut. Valentine Holmes has shifted from fullback to the left wing to replace the sacked Xavier Coates, paving the way for Walsh to pull on the No.1 jumper. Meanwhile, Andrew McCullough replaces Harry Grant (hamstring) at hooker, Josh Papalii returns to the front row, Ben Hunt is the No.14 utility and Francis Molo has earned a spot on the bench. AJ Brimson, Jayden Su'A and Joe Ofahengaue are the Maroons' other omissions.
Blues coach Brad Fittler has made just one change, bringing in Angus Crichton for Jake Trbojevic (hip). A suspension had ruled Crichton out of Origin I.
Suncorp Stadium fortress
It's no secret that Queensland have built Suncorp Stadium into a fortress since Origin originated in 1980. The Maroons have won 37, the Blues have won 19 and there was a 10-all draw in Game Three of the 1999 season. NSW have also won just two of the last 10 games at the Brisbane venue.
Stopping Tommy Turbo
Tom Trbojevic is NSW's most lethal attacking weapon and he showed that in Origin I, racking up a hat-trick, one try assist and 215 metres. The superstar Manly fullback then turned in another blinder against Gold Coast on Sunday, snaring a hat-trick as the Sea Eagles piled on 48 points to zero in the second half. Fittler used Trbojevic as a roaming centre in the series opener, in which he regularly linked with centre pairing Latrell Mitchell in dynamite passages of play. Can the Maroons negate his impact in Origin II?
