Intense battles on cards as Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2020 moves into Eighth round

Karachi: With all three results-oriented matches in Seventh Round, Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is expected to become more exciting and enthralling in the upcoming Eighth round.

The matches promise to sustain the momentum as teams fight for the top two slots which will enable their qualification for the final of the premium first-class tournament.

Here’s the Points table situation after seven Rounds

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK): KPK has been in top form as they rise to the top after claiming a one-sided win over Sindh by an innings and 37 runs.

The win helped them attain 25 points and with four wins and one loss, they have 117 points in their account.

Northern: Last year’s runner up slipped to second after they lost to defending champions Central Punjab by six wickets. With three wins and two losses, they have 104 points in their account.

Southern Punjab: SP defeated Balochistan by 205 runs, leading them to retain the third spot in the tournament with 103 points.

Central Punjab: CP have made a strong comeback after defeating Sindh and Northern consecutively under the leadership of pacer Hasan Ali. They are at the fourth spot with 76 points.

Balochistan: Balochistan are completely out of form after winning the first match of the tournament. They currently have 74 points in seven matches.

Sindh: Under the leadership of veteran Asad Shafiq, they are in a disastrous form. They also won the inaugural match of the competition and are at bottom of the table with 65 points.

Individual performances

Nauman Ali: The 34-year-old became the first bowler to take 50 wickets in the ongoing season. He has 54 wickets to his name which includes five fifers.

Kamran Ghulam: With back to back centuries, KPK’s Kamran Ghulam snatches the top spot from Southern Punjab’s Agha Salman (665 runs). The right-handed batter has 713 runs to his name and will be one to watch out for in the eighth round.
