Karachi: Veteran pacer Mohammad Amir has responded to bowling coach Waqar Younis’s statement who opined that he didn’t leave Test cricket due to workload.

Waqar, while talking to a group of journalists from Queenstown said, “I don’t think Amir is dropped due to workload as I saw him was playing in a league recently. He made himself available for white-ball and didn’t want to play in red-ball cricket that is his personal decision,” he said.

The 28-year-old Amir was asked about his own point of view by a journalist on Twitter to which Amir replied: “Phir yeah sarkar Waqar Younas saab hi bata sakte hain Allah hadyat de jo esi soch rhkte hain [Only Waqar Younis sir can tell you that then. May Allah give guidance to a person who thinks like this].”

It must be noted that Amir was dropped from Pakistan’s T20 squad for the series against New Zealand. He is currently representing Galle Gladiators in Lanka Premier League (LPL).

After getting dropped, he tweeted a similar kind of reply to head coach Misbah-ul-Haq: “Misbah saab hi bata sakte hain [only Misbah ‘sir’ can tell you but good luck for team green.] Amir tweeted.
