Maroons star avoids serious injury

The Queensland Maroons have received a boost with hooker Harry Grant a chance to feature for Game III next month.

Grant featured in the series-opener earlier this month, despite being cruelled by injuries throughout 2021.

The 23-year-old has played only seven NRL games this season for the Storm, with a hamstring injury suffered during Melbourne's win over the Tigers last weekend being his most recent concern.

While the hooker will miss Sunday's Game II, he's expected to only sit out a couple of weeks which could see him return in time for the Origin series finale on July 14.

Storm Football Operations Coordinator Ryan Hoffman confirmed today Grant suffered just a minor hamstring injury, clearing him of any long-term damage.

"It's a low-grade injury for Harry," Hoffman said.

"We expect he will be out for two-three weeks."
