Maroons hit by double injury blow for Origin ll

The Maroons' quest to even the State of Origin series has hit a hurdle with South Sydney players Dane Gagai and Jai Arrow in doubt for game two in Brisbane.

Gagai suffered a potential broken hand in the series opener in Townsville according to The Sydney Morning Herald and went for scans in Sydney upon returning from North Queensland.

If they show a fracture he'll most likely be missing for the second game and has been left out of the Rabbitohs' squad this weekend.

Arrow could be missing for the Rabbitohs in the lead up to the announcement of the teams for Game Two. Arrow suffered a rib injury in the first half of the Maroons' 50-6 loss and required a painkilling injection at half-time.

He won't play for South Sydney this weekend and is no guarantee to play in round 15 against Brisbane.

Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett, who confirmed the injuries, said he hadn't decided on the make-up of his team for this week's game against Newcastle when contacted by the Herald last night.

Blues stars Tom Trbojevic and Nathan Cleary have been rested for Manly and Penrith for this weekend's games.

While Trbojevic was named in the Manly No.1 jersey for tonight's clash against North Queensland at Brookvale, Des Hasler is expected to give his star the night off.

Penrith's Jarome Luai and winger Brian To'o are also in doubt for the Panthers' clash with the Sharks tonight.
