Munster in strife for kicking out in frustration

Queensland five-eighth Cameron Munster could face scrutiny from the match review committee after he was placed on report for kicking Blues back-rower Liam Martin during the Maroons' 50-6 loss to NSW.

Munster midway through the second half put up a fifth tackle kick before he was taken off the ball by Martin, with the reigning Wally Lewis Medallist taking exception to the hit.

The Queensland playmaker was then caught on camera kicking out at Martin who was attempting to make his way up off the turf.

Referee Gerard Sutton immediately placed Munster on report following the incident, which could potentially see Maroons star hit with either a fine or suspension upon review.

While it was a tough day out for the entire Maroons squad, in particular, it was a brutal day for Munster, one of the stars tasked with providing the spark for Queensland.

Cameron Smith described Munster's performance "rusty" with the Storm star playing for the first time in weeks after being sidelined with a foot injury. Munster didn't see much of the ball with his only influence being an assist when the Maroons scored their only try in the first half.

Meanwhile, Nathan Cleary could also face scrutiny from the match review committee for a kicking incident when appeared involving Queensland back-rower Jai Arrow.

The incident occurred early in the match when Cleary put in a kick before he was collected and taken to the ground by Arrow.

Cleary looked to kick out at Arrow as he got to his feet, with the Queenslander chasing after him as they got into each other's faces to sort through their frustrations.

While the match review committee will no doubt take a look at the incident, Cleary wasn't placed on report and no penalty was issued by the referee.
