International Cricket Council (ICC) crowned the Border-Gavaskar Trophy of 2020-21 as ‘The Ultimate Test Series’ ahead of the ICC World Test Championship Final. The series was crowned after the 15 head-to-head and over seven million votes across all ICC social channels.
A total of 15 Test series were nominated by the ICC which included the 2001 series between India and Australia, the nerve-racking Ashes 2005, Australia Vs South Africa series of 2008-09 and the competitive series between India and Pakistan of 1991.
It has been now approx 6 months after the end of the historical Border-Gavaskar Trophy between India and Australia but still, its vibes and the fever has not ended yet as now the ICC crowned this historical series as “The Ultimate Test Series”.
Two weeks ago ICC started a poll campaign on the occasion of the forthcoming ICC World Test Championship Final on its all social media platform where about seven million votes were cast for deciding the crown of Ultimate Test Series and each of the series were knocked out one by one and ultimately the final face-off conducted between the India-Pakistan test series of 1991 and The Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 and with this majority of the votes were cast in the favour of The Border Gavaskar Trophy 2020-21 and then ICC ultimately Crowned the series as “The Ultimate Series” of all time.
Australia stunned India by collapsing them on 36 in Adelaide then moving forward with India’s Stand-In Captain Ajinkya Rahane’s Masterclass ton and India’s resilience in Melbourne, levelling the series by 1-1. Sydney witnessed the Smith’s Elegance and then India’s Survival heist of 97 overs ending up of test match drawn and the last but not the least Pant’s Heroic 89 runs led India to breach the “Gabbatoir” in Brisbane and winning the series by 2-1 which will be remembered as one of the greatest test series win in the history of Indian Cricket.
