Australia went into the fifth day of Roland Garros with four Australians in action, but sadly all four tasted defeat.
After Ash Barty was forced to retire with an injury and Astra Sharma was beaten in straight sets, it was left to Alex De Minaur and James Duckworth to fly the flag later on in the day.
Unfortunately, both were taken down in four sets – De Minaur losing to Italy's Marco Cecchinato and Duckworth to Lithuania's Ricardas Berankis.
The latter will now face Novak Djokovic in the third round, who faced little opposition from Pablo Cuevas, beating him in straight sets.
It was rough going for De Minaur, who lost the first two sets heavily, before winning the third. In all, his serve was broken by the Italian six times en route to a 4-6, 1-6, 6-3, 1-6 loss.
