Ajla Tomljanovic has failed to reach the last 32 at Roland Garros, going down in straight sets on day four of the tournament to Russia's Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova.
There would be no repeat of her comfortable opening day victory, going down in straight sets, 6-2 6-3.
The 31st seeded Pavlyuchenkova moves on to the third round.
Tomljanovic was the only Australian in action today after five played on Tuesday – and the two remaining Aussie females, Ash Barty and Astra Sharma – are both in action tomorrow.
The 28-year-old, who switched allegiances from Croatia to Australia in 2018, briefly led in the second set with an early break before her opponent responded by winning the next four games.
It was a dominant performance from the Russian, who converted five of her 12 break point opportunities.
