Western Bulldogs star Adam Treloar is set to miss the next two months of the season after a syndesmosis injury he suffered in his team's 111-point win over St Kilda.
Treloar's ankle was bent awkwardly in a tackle just before half-time and he was substituted off before being seen walking around in a moon boot after the Dogs' win.
The club confirmed the extent of Treloar's injury in a statement on Monday afternoon, with the star midfielder joining Josh Dunkley on the club's long-term injury list.
"We've decided the best way to manage this injury is to operate to stabilise the ligament," Bulldogs head of sports medicine Chris Bell said in a club statement on Monday afternoon.
"This will get him back playing sooner and avoid ongoing complications.
"We will confirm his timeframe to return to play following the surgery but expect him to miss the 6-8 weeks of footy."
Treloar has been a sensational fit in the Bulldogs' star-studded midfield since joining the club amid mass fanfare during last year's trade period, averaging 25 disposals a game through the first 10 games of the season.
The Treloar-less Bulldogs will face Melbourne in a top-of-the-table blockbuster at Marvel Stadium on Friday night to kick off Round 11.
