Asia Cup 2021’s rescheduling seems impossible this year

KARACHI: Asia Cup 2021 can not take place anytime this year due to the busy schedule of four major Asian nations, reports claim.

According to the ESPNcricinfo, Asia Cup 2021 will not be possible this year after the multi-nation tournament was postponed today due to the current COVID-19 surge across the world. Sri Lanka excused hosting the event due to prevailing COVID-19 in their country.

Following further details, Asia Cup now seems possible only in 2022 as the next six months will be busy for teams during which the ICC T20 World Cup is also scheduled to take place.

The Asian event may take place consecutively – in 2022 and 2023. Pakistan will likely host the 2022 tournament, and Sri Lanka the 2023 iteration.

Asia Cup last took place in 2018 in the UAE and India won the tournament by defeating Bangladesh in the final contest.
