Karachi: Cricket South Africa (CSA) has brushed aside all the speculations regarding the comeback of AB de Villiers in international cricket, stating that discussions with the batsman have ‘concluded’.
CSA confirmed that the 37-year-old De Villiers has ‘once and for all’ decided that he won’t come back out of retirement.
On the other hand, CSA named the squads for Ireland and the West Indies series, with off-spinner, Prenelan Subrayen, joining the Proteas Test squad for the two-match series against the West Indies.
The 19-member Test squad will be led by Dean Elgar while Temba Bavuma will lead white-ball teams.
It must be noted that South Africa head coach Mark Boucher hinted at AB de Villiers’s possible international comeback ahead of the T20 World Cup.
De Villiers, announced his retirement from international cricket in May 2018 has been playing franchise cricket all over the World. The 37-year-old is in the news for his return to competitive cricket last year before the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019.
