Karachi: Former Pakistan captain Inzamam-ul-Haq was fumed over the decision made by Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and Cricket West Indies (CWI) to replace one Test match with two additional T20Is.
“In consultation with the Cricket West Indies and keeping an eye on this year’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, we have agreed to replace one Test match with two additional T20Is. This is aimed at providing further T20 content for both teams, as we continue to prepare and build-up to the global ICC event,” PCB CEO Wasim Khan said in a press release.
“The idea of reducing Test matches is sensitive and it is directly affecting cricket. T20 cricket is international but Test cricket has a separate value,” Inzamam said on his YouTube channel.
“It is inappropriate with cricket to promote one format and devalue another one. It is important for boards to promote Test cricket otherwise players will also take away their focus,” he added.
It must be noted Pakistan had to play three T20Is and as many Tests against West Indies but now they will play five T20Is and two Tests from July 27 to August 24.
