Seething Pie renews attack on leaked De Goey chat

Injured Collingwood vice-captain Taylor Adams has again lashed out at a media report claiming senior teammates had demanded underperforming megastar forward Jordan De Goey to lift his game.

The Age claimed in a report last week that Collingwood's leaders had "put the acid on" De Goey, after he was kept goalless for a second week in a row in the Magpies' loss to the Gold Coast Suns in round seven.

The 105-game Magpie, who's reportedly on $750,000 per season, emerged from his form rut to snare six goals in Collingwood's 18-point win over North Melbourne on Saturday.

Adams, who last week responded to the report when he labelled it "garbage" on Twitter, said his conversation with De Goey had been misconstrued.

"There was quite a bit of media attention around (Jordan) last week and he seems to be the scapegoat when Collingwood aren't going well," Adams said on SEN radio.

"Some of the stuff that was reported was inaccurate. My conversation was leaked from the changerooms. I am not sure how that happens, but the conversation was inaccurate.

"Jordan and I have a great relationship that we have been working on for a number of years now. And we try to make each other better.

"The conversation was based around one of support, helping him while I am in rehab, watch extra vision, do extra sessions, being a sounding board for him."

Adams didn't take to the field with De Goey for the Kangaroos clash because he's recovering from a medial collateral ligament strain, but Collingwood's reigning best-and-fairest winner said he was impressed with his performance.

"He was coming off a concussion and played a quieter game and I am glad he came out and played the way he did," Adams said.

"He had a great week on the track and he emulated that in the game."

Adams injured his knee in Collingwood's loss to GWS in round four.

The 27-year-old says he's still three to four weeks away from a return.

The Magpies are in desperate need of another key midfielder and strong leadership, having won just two of their first eight games to be languishing in 16th on the ladder.
