‘Disappointed for not scoring a hundred’ Imran Butt

HARARE: Opener Imran Butt expressed his disappointment for getting out at 91 runs on Day 2 of the opening Test against Zimbabwe.

In a video interview released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Butt said he was disappointed for falling just short of his maiden Test century.

“My plan was to stick at the crease as long as I could. I stayed to my basics and focused on scoring runs on every given opportunity. Unfortunately, I got out on 91 and obviously, it was disappointing but I hope to take this confidence into next game,” he said.

Butt, who scored just 36 runs in his career’s first two Tests, lauded team management for believing in his talent despite not scoring runs in his debut series. “From Misbah Bhai to Younis Bhai and Babar, everyone supported me and gave me confidence. I took the confidence here and scored 91 runs, unfortunately failed to convert it into triple figures but I will try to make it happen in the next opportunity,” he said.

Talking about his slip catching, Butt said he didn’t do any special practice for it. “I did fielding in the slips in the last couple of domestic seasons and I also got the best fielder award in 2019 for taking 17 catches. There is no special training for slip catching, you just need to focus and assume as every ball is coming to you,” he shared.
