Lahore: Higher Education Commission (HEC) and National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) qualified for the 2020 National Challenge Cup Round-of-16 after winning their respective matches on Monday.
Pakistan Army thrashed Pakistan Police 4-0 at the Punjab Stadium courtesy of a hat-trick by Mohammad Jamil (16’, 43’, 83’) and a goal by Mohammad Sarfraz (70’) to finish top of Group ‘A’.
At the Fame FC Ground, HEC beat FC Noushki by 1-0. Ahtisham Hussain’s 54th-minute strike ensured HEC’s qualification to the Round-of-16.
NBP beat Huma FC 3-0 at the Punjab Stadium in Group ‘B’ encounter. Sanaullah scored two goals for the winners in the 25th and 60th minutes. Maqbool’s 80th-minute strike sealed the victory and a place in the next round for NBP.
In the other match of the group, Karachi United was beaten by Falcon Company 1-2. Haider Khan scored the opening goal for Falcon Company at the 21st minute before Sardar Wali doubled the lead at the 35th minute thanks to a brilliant free-kick. For Karachi United, Jamshed scored in the 64th minute.
