Karachi: Hasan Ali gained his form back by picking up four wickets as Central Punjab (CP) finally won its first match in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2020.
Set to chase 432 runs, Sindh’s batter fell prey to CP’s bowlers as they went through them to win the first contest after Five rounds. Fifth-ranked Sindh resumed last day at 152-4 with Saad Ali (24*) and Shehzar Mohammad (26*). They both managed to score just 33 runs together before Saad walked off after scoring 31 runs.
Shehzar continued his batting strongly and made 50 off 97 balls with the help of seven boundaries. Tabish Khan made 19 runs. Earlier, Sharjeel provided a strong start to Sindh in their second inning on Day 3 by scoring 89 runs laced with 11 boundaries and three sixes.
Apart from Hasan, Waqas Maqsood bagged three wickets to take his wicket tally in this match to 9. Qasim Akram and Ahmed Safi bagged a wicket each.
On the other hand, Northern chased 200 runs against Southern Punjab (SP) with six wickets in hand to gain top position on the points table. While chasing 200, Nasir Nawaz and Umer Amin rescued Northern after they lost opener Zain Abbas earlier for just 3 runs. They both scored 97 runs together to lay down a solid foundation for their team to chase the target easily.
Nasir walked off after scoring 68 runs off 80 balls with the help of nine boundaries and two sixes. Later on, Umer joined hands with Hammad Azam to do the job for Northern and both scored 81 runs together to complete the chase.
Umer remained not out for 65 runs while Hammad remained not out for 53 off 48 balls with 10 boundaries. Umer struck eight boundaries.
For Sp, Umer Khan bagged two wickets while Zahid Mehmood and Aamir Yamin took a wicket each.
At State Bank Ground, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa remained dominant over Balochistan as they restricted opponents to 224-10 to win their third match by 175 runs.
Jalat Khan was the highest scorer from Balochistan with 34 runs.
From KPK, Sameen Gul completed his six wicket-haul by taking three wickets in the second inning. Mohammad Wasim also bagged three wickets each in both innings whereas Sajid Khan took two wickets.
