Lahore: Head Coach Pakistan U19 Ijaz Ahmed believes that the players have an excellent opportunity to play against Bangladesh, the U19 World Cup champion, which will help them to prepare for next year’s world cup in West Indies.
Pakistan U19 will take on Bangladesh in five 50-over games and a four-day match from April 19 to May 5 in Sylhet and Dhaka.
“Today was the first day of the camp, the players have assembled with us after a couple of months so today we took updates on their fitness and assessed their form,” Ijaz said.
“The most positive thing is that we are playing against Bangladesh who are former U19 champion. Bangladesh’s conditions and West Indies’ conditions are quite similar which will help us to assess them,” he added.
On the other hand, spin bowling consultant Mushtaq Ahmed is working with the spinners in this 10-day camp.
“I am delighted to have Mushtaq Ahmed work with us once again, he is a proven coach and has worked around the world with some of the leading spin bowlers. His presence will be a huge motivation for the spinners and I am sure they will learn a great deal with him,” he maintained.
