Johns' brutal swipe at woeful Manly

Rugby league Immortal Andrew Johns was flabbergasted at the body language of the Manly Sea Eagles as the Penrith Panthers destroyed the hosts in a 46-6 thumping tonight.

Des Hasler's men looked worryingly flat as Panthers winger Brian To'o crossed for his second try in the 24th minute, extending Penrith's lead to 20-0 in the first match of round four.

Sixty minutes of game time later, the last-placed Sea Eagles had plummeted to their fourth consecutive defeat to start the season and crashed to their heaviest defeat at Brookvale Oval.

"The body language. Yuck," Johns said on Nine's coverage during Manly's horrible first half.

Melbourne Storm legend Billy Slater was clutching for answers as Manly declined in the opening 40 minutes.

"What do you do?" Slater said.

"Des has to do something. He has to make a positional change – whether it's bringing Brad Parker over from the left-hand side and Moses Suli, they swap.

"Something needs to change to get a different result because every time Penrith come down to the left-hand side, they're either scoring tries or looking like they're scoring tries."

Johns added: "At the moment, they can't contain (Viliame) Kikau.

"That edge has no competence defensively."
