I built a social media app centered around rankings, opinions, and debates

A mod gave me permission to post this here on discord.

So I made an app called List’d, it's a social media app built around something I think a lot of NBA fans already do constantly: ranking things and arguing about them.

The basic idea is pretty simple. You can make a Top 5, Top 10, or basically any ranking you want, add notes explaining your picks, customize how it looks, and share it with everyone else. Obviously sports is a huge part of what I’m hoping people use it for you, like can rank players, teams, all-time lists, draft classes, starting 5s, whatever you want. But it’s not limited to sports. You can make lists about music, movies, games, food, TV, etc.

Rankings / Lists

The main feature is obviously the rankings. You can create permanent rankings, add images to your entries, write explanations for individual picks, customize the background/layout, and turn the finished ranking into a shareable card.

You can also make Tier Lists, including image-based ones, and remix other people's lists. There are also Ratings, where instead of putting things in an order you can just give them a rating.

One feature I've really liked is Collaborative Lists. You can invite friends to work on the same ranking, reorder things together, customize the final post, and publish it once you're finished. So you could have 5 people make their collective Top 25 NBA players or an all-time starting 5 together.

Games / Debates

I've also been adding a bunch of different ways to actually play with rankings instead of just posting them.

There's Mystery Rank, where you get players/items one at a time and have to decide where they belong before seeing what's coming next. There are also games like Build With a Budget and Eliminate One.

You can create Challenges, where people submit their own rankings to the same prompt, and Tournaments, where things go head-to-head through a bracket and the community votes on the winner.

There's also Rank This, where you give the community a prompt and everyone submits their own ranking, as well as Polls and Hot Takes, where people can vote on whether a take is valid or invalid.

Social features

The other big part of List’d is that I don't want it to just be a list-making website. There’s a personalized For You feed and a Following feed, so you can actually discover people's rankings and opinions.

You can like, comment, repost, save, remix, follow people, search for users/lists/topics, and see things based around the subjects you're interested in. There are also Groups, DMs, and group chats, so you can actually build communities around specific interests.

There are also leaderboards, badges, daily activities, notifications, and other smaller features that I've been adding to make it feel more like an actual social platform rather than just a ranking generator.

I'm still building a lot of this out, and there's definitely more I want to add. My biggest goal right now is getting more sports fans onto the platform because I think the format fits sports debates really well. If you're someone who spends way too much time making all-time rankings, debating player comparisons, making tier lists, or arguing about who belongs where, that's basically what I built List’d for.
