I never understood this. Why are people crediting The Rangerettes for being the first Women’s Drill Team often?

When it was the Flaming Flashes (Flashes Forever!) that were formed prior to Ms. Davis leaving to Kilgore? Is it due to the Rangerettes being on a more advanced College level than a high school cheerleading team? or some other structure changes that were made?
