KARACHI: South Africa’s white-ball skipper Temba Bavuma said they had no issues with players leaving for the Indian Premier League (IPL) after first two ODIs against Pakistan.
Speaking to reporters in a pre-series presser, Bavuma said Cricket South Africa (CSA) and Board of Cricket Control in India (BCCI) have good relations, hence they had to respect them by sending players to play IPL.
“I don’t think we had any issues due to some of our players leaving the tour halfway to play IPL. We had to respect the relation between CSA and BCCI,” he said.
“But, we have some really good replacements for the players who will play only two ODIs. We are looking forward to the series and giving tough time to the touring side,” he added.
It must be noted here that Kagiso Rabada, David Miller, Quinton de Kock, Lungi Ngidi, and Anrich Nortje are supposed to travel to India to play IPL.
CSA and South African players remained under immense criticism for prioritizing a private league over national duty. Pakistan and South Africa are scheduled to play three ODIs and four T20Is between April 2 to 16.
