Lions deny sledge that sparked Scott face-off

Brisbane Lions captain Dayne Zorko has denied reports that a comment from teammate Harris Andrews resulted in Geelong coach Chris Scott approaching the Lions huddle.

Scott is set to be issued a "please explain" by the AFL after Geelong veterans Joel Selwood and Cam Guthrie pulled him away from the Lions huddle as he exchanged words with a number of Lions stars at quarter-time of Geelong's one-point win.

According to veteran AFL reporter Damian Barrett, after Scott had suggested that the Lions players, namely Lachie Neale, had been soft in the opening quarter, Andrews responded with "not as soft as you pricks in the Grand Final".

However, Zorko poured cold water on Barrett's version of the testy quarter-time exchange.

"What has come out today in regards to Harris, that's news to Harris and news to a lot of us," he told reporters.

"Nothing like that was said. You could see the passion in both teams."

Zorko's comments came after Scott himself explained how the back and forth had started with comments from Neale.

"I was walking onto the ground and Lachie Neale just said to me something like — I couldn't understand exactly what he said — but something about Gary Rohan," Scott said.

"And I said, 'I'm happy to have the conversation with you if you like. I've seen the vision and I'm comfortable with it.'

"I suspect he didn't hear all of that. That's all that was said.

"I think a few of them, they weren't paying me compliments. I didn't say anything after that."
