Glenn Maxwell says he isn't fazed by recent criticism over his IPL form after fruitless performances in the sub-continent this season.
The 32-year old's highest score was just 32 and failed to hit a single six in the limited overs competition.
Overall he scored just 108 runs in 13 matches for the Kings XI Punjab with his form coming as a surprise to his IPL teammates who are accustomed to his big-hitting and high strike rate.
It even prompted legendary Indian batsman Virender Sehwag to label Maxwell a 'cheerleader' for the side.
Maxwell admits his lack of sixes and runs is always going garner negative reports especially during the IPL.
"I think he called me a cheerleader. He is pretty outspoken with his dislike of me and that's fine. He's allowed to say whatever he likes. I deal with that and move on – deal with it with a grain of salt with Sehwag," he said.
"All I thought was I should have gone to the gym a few more times. It was just one of those things – a lot of the time when I was coming in, we were in trouble and I was trying to hit everything over the rope.
"It was pretty rare – having the most sixes twice in that tournament, it is pretty rare to go through a whole tournament without hitting one. I certainly copped it from a few of my teammates. I don't think that's going to happen too many more times.
His form in the IPL was in stark contrast to his last performance for Australia in their ODI win over England back in September, where he finished with 108 off just 90 balls. Maxwell says he doesn't pay too much attention to it.
"I think it was just to do with the amount of time I had left in the game a lot of the time. I was either rebuilding or trying to go from ball one. I don't take too much out of it, I'm still training as hard as ever and working on the right things.
"I came from arguably one of the best innings I have ever played in my career to not being able to clear the rope. I don't take too much out of that."
Maxwell will line up for Australia in the upcoming white-ball series against India. The all-rounder said he's committed to how the team wants him to play.
"I'm sure I will be fine. I was hitting the ball fine, I just wasn't really getting much of a crack," he said.
"I'll bat whatever position the team needs me to bat. I know I can fit into that regardless of what number it is.
"Somebody showed me some stats the other day about me batting at No.7 and they were pretty good. If the team needs me to bat at 7, I'm happy to do that.
"Hopefully I can continue to have success like the last series."
