KARACHI: Hazara Quetta Football Academy beat Young Rising Stars Layyah by 1-0 to qualify for the National Women’s Football Championship (NWFC) Development Stage Quarter Finals.
In a nail-biting contest, both teams held their nerves tight and no goal was scored in the first half. Farzana Ghulam Nabi struck in the 57th minute to give Hazara a 1-0 lead over the opponent.
Thereafter, Young Rising tried hard to score an equalizer but managed to finish being goalless.
In another Pre-quarter-finals, Sialkot City WFC defeated MUK FC by 2-0. Alizay Asad and Fatima Shahzad were the goal scorers from the winning team.
It must be noted here that Development Stage has been introduced to entertain ousted teams from the tournament to give them confidence by playing matches against competitive teams.
