Roosters youngster Daniel Suluka-Fifita may be set for a stint on the sidelines after he was sin binned for an apparent punch to the back of the head of Rabbitohs star Jai Arrow.
It was absolute one-way traffic as the Bunnies stormed out to a 14-0 lead by half-time.
But with a few minutes to play before the break, it all ignited when Latrell Mitchell appeared to take umbrage with Suluka-Fifita after Arrow was left dazed following a seemingly innocuous tackle.
Upon review, it quickly became clear that there had been some foul play, as Suluka-Fifita was clearly caught throwing a punch into the back of Arrow's head while held on the ground.
"Is that a rabbit punch?" asked Storm legend Billy Slater in commentary. "This isn't going to end well for him here."
"They are right under their skin, right under their skin, the Rabbitohs are right on top here," Phil Gould added.
Suluka-Fifita was given his marching orders, but not before another small scuffle erupts as he was leaving field.
NSW Blues coach Brad Fittler conceded the Roosters youngster "lost his head in the moment", while cross-code icon Sonny Bill Williams conceded Suluka-Fifita took it "that step too far."
"I feel sorry for Dan, he's a great kid," Williams said on Nine."Us Islanders give our hearts in everything.
"Obviously it's been spoken about in the week 'We've got to show Jai what's up', but it's been taken just that little step too far."
The MRC will undoubtedly have their eyes on the incident as the Roosters await any potential further sanction for Suluka-Fifita.
