Injured Saud disappointed over missing out on South Africa ODIs

Lahore: The 25-year-old Saud Shakeel is disappointed after an injury in his left leg during an intra-squad practice match on Wednesday, forced him to rule out of the ODI series against South Africa.

The left-handed batsman was replaced by Asif Ali in the squad for the upcoming 50-over games, scheduled to start from April 2.

“Disappointing to miss out on the ODI series due to injury but wish the rest of the team best of luck,” Saud tweeted.

Saud is also a part of Pakistan’s Test squad for the two-matches series against Zimbabwe. He will remain at NHPC for rehab and has to recover before April 12. His inclusion in the Test squad will depend on his recovery from the injury.

It must be noted that Pakistan’s white-ball squad left for South Africa via chartered flight earlier today. The national team will play three ODIs and four T20Is in Johannesburg and Pretoria.
