‘Pakistan team is no one’s authority’ Misbah on selection controversy

LAHORE: Head coach Misbah-ul-Haq urged people to understand that no one has an influence on team selection.

Speaking to reporters in the pre-departure presser, Misbah said team’s selection is always based on mutual understanding.

“Only media report that there is the difference or any dispute between chief selector, coach or captain,” he opened up.

“I have been a part of the selection process and I think the team is no one’s individual authority. No one is influential and people should understand it. We try to select players who are best to represent Pakistan,” he added.

Talking about Babar Azam as captain, Misbah praised him for leading the team from the front. “Babar has learned a lot as captain and the last series gave him immense confidence. He performs and wants other players to perform as well which is a good sign for him moving forward,” he concluded.
