Asif Ali replaces Saud Shakeel in ODI squad against SA

LAHORE: Asif Ali has replaced Saud Shakeel in Pakistan’s ODI squad against South Africa, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) disclosed.

According to the PCB, Shakeel suffered an injury in his left leg during an intra-squad practice match on Wednesday. Following the advice from the doctors, the team management decided to give Shakeel rest and opted for Asif in his place.

Remember, Shakeel is also a part of Pakistan’s Test squad for the two-matches series against Zimbabwe. He will remain at NHPC for rehab and has to recover before April 12. His inclusion in the Test squad will depend on his recovery from the injury.

It must be noted here that Pakistan will tour South Africa to play four T20Is and three ODIs. They will then travel to Zimbabwe to play two Tests and three T20Is.
