‘1992 World Cup victory reintroduced Pakistan’s cricket’ Ramiz Raja

KARACHI: 1992 World Cup squad member, Ramiz Raja said the victory revamped Pakistan’s cricket in the world.

Speaking in a video message on the occasion of cheering 29 years of that glorious triumph, Raja credited the then skipper Imran Khan for always believing in winning the world cup.

“Imran Bhai was confident that we will win the world cup. His belief motivated all of us a lot and put us on a winning track despite a loose start,” he said.

“That victory reintroduced Pakistan’s cricket in the world. It was the golden moment in Pakistan’s cricket history and I must say, after Independence, it was the biggest moment to cheer for Pakistanis,” he added.

The cricketer-turned-analyst also shared what they learnt as a team during their whole world cup journey. “We believed in not giving up till the last moment. Despite a poor start, we were determined to win the world cup and that was all because of the confidence Imran Bhai gave to us,” he concluded.
