Army makes into Round-of-16 in National Challenge Cup

Lahore: Pakistan Army beat Higher Education Commission (HEC) by 1-0 to advance to Round-Of-16 in the National Challenge Cup here on Thursday. 

Both the teams fought hard as the match remained drew with both teams without scoring a goal. In extra time, Army’s Zafar scored a goal in the 92nd minute to hand a second convincing win to his team.

In another match, Pakistan Air Force (PAF) defeated Sui Southern Gas Pipeline Limited (SNGPL) by 2-1. No goal was scored in the first half with both teams playing aggressively. Masroor Khan in the 47th minute gave a breakthrough to PAF as he netted the ball.

Sarmad Khan helped SNGPL score an equalizer in the 53rd minute to release some pressure from his team. But, Irfan Ali scored in the 71st minute which was the last strike of the match.

Meanwhile, Baloch FC Noushki made comeback in the tournament and marked their first win after outclassing the Police by 2-0. Fahim Baloch and Aurangzaib were the gaol scorers for Noushki.
